2011 Update
Cindy Clodfelter, All Star Teacher 2009
When
one door closes, another one opens . . . 30 years of teaching,
coaching and creating relationships in Randolph County Schools
and 300 sick days in tow. I
retired in June 2010, left behind my coaching shoes, my PE uniforms,
and my whistle for new opportunities. I look forward to each new
day spending time with my family and friends. For many people-it
was hard to think that I would be happy leaving behind my love for
students, athletics, and my devotion to physical education. My
personal goals for educating my students was to REACH, TEACH, and
RELEASE. In my community everyday, I am constantly re-connecting
with my former students and their families continuing to watch them
grow and be successful. With each new day of my life, my joy
is watching others and myself decide, commit and succeed with passions
that give others a more joyful experience. My love and dedication
for teaching lives on.. I am currently working as a SPARK (Sport,
Play, & Active Recreation for Kids) ambassador with the North
Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation
and Dance. It is encouraging to watch teachers learn and develop
new innovative ideas for creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for
students to learn. I am a retired member of the North Carolina
Coaches Association and attend each year to renew relationships with
colleagues across the state that helped me to be the coach to guide
my student athletes to the next level of play. I am always
challenged by the new coaching strategies by the college level clinicians. My
time is also spent working with the Botvin life skills program in
Randolph Co, Schools promoting health and personal development. In
my job, I am in the schools weekly assisting teachers and program
accountability. It is rewarding to see quality instruction
and to watch students learn the skills they will need to have to
live a more productive life. In order to continue to fulfill
my life goals and desires of Wellness and helping myself and others
to maintain fitness for life-I am employed by the Grubb Family YMCA
as a Wellness Center Specialist, teach a FIT KIDS class weekly and
participate in Y programs. I am a back-up Bus Driver for Day Camp
field trips and daily school pick-ups when needed. I serve as a volunteer
for Robin Lindsay’s GOFAR (Go out for a run) program. In
my spare time, I relax enjoying some of my favorite hobbies and interests: ECU
Football, local high school and rec league games, car shows with
my first car (a totally restored 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible—Springtime
Yellow), water sports, riding dirt bikes and my Harley on the open
road. Old in years. Young at heart-always ready for new exciting
opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. It is
not what you have or who you are-but what you leave behind . . .
LIVE LIFE WELL . . . . . .TODAY!
My dream for all schools/physical education
programs is to have the opportunity to have the Project Fit America
program. Students and Communities can reach a new level of excitement…The staff
at Project Fit is awesome, always willing to help, and dedicated
to improve the health and well being of the youth in our society. They
truly made a difference to my students at ATMS.
