Dorsey Gets Fit

DORSEY, Miss. - Some Itawamba County folks will be living a healthier life in no time thanks to a new grant.
Students at Dorsey Attendance Center cheered for health and wellness Friday (Oct. 16), as officials cut the ribbon on a new fitness area.
Secured through a $26,000 Project Fit America grant, the entire community will have access to the equipment. It will also be used by students, to insure a healthier future.

"We are very excited to receive the grant," Dorsey Attendance Center Principal, Mark Hitt said. "We actually had a couple of days at the beginning of the school year where we had a trainer come in from the Project Fit organization, worked with our coaches on the proper use of the equipment and our students have been really excited. I think it's sort of relight the fire as far as our fitness program goes here."
Dorsey Attendance Center is one of 60 schools in the state to be awarded the grant, which is funded through the Blue Cross and Blue Shield foundation.
